The Great Lamptey Mill saga has taken on a new dimension. Prosecutors are arguing that the prorietor has committed a crime of defilement at the time that he and his student had sex. The girl claims that the sex was consensual and further argues that she has engaged in sex several times with him before the pregnancy, spoiling the defences case.
She further argues that she has a pending exams and her child's school is reopening soon so the prosecution of her child's father will affect her emotionally during her exams and also she is uncertain how her child's father can cater for her child whilst in police custody.
These raise concerns about the huge gaps between legal and social imperatives in Ghana. We must tighten those loose ends to have a sociolegal harmony.
